Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse

'I perhaps owe it to flowers that I became a painter.' Claude Monet

This January, our Main Galleries will be filled with the colour and

light of over 120 works tracing the emergence of the modern garden
in its many forms and glories.

Surround yourself with masterpieces from some of the most important

artists of the early 20th century including Cézanne, Manet, Renoir,
Van Gogh, Klimt, Kandinsky and Klee. The grand finale is Monet's
monumental trio of waterlily paintings, the Agapanthus Triptych,
displayed in the round as it was intended, and on show for the first
 time in the UK.

Warm up for the exhibition with our recent articles:

Opens 30 January 2016. Friends of the RA go free.
