LONDRES: foto de estudianta de Middlesex pre- seleccionada en concurso fotográfico del Canal 4
An up and coming photographer from Middlesex University will see her work shown at Channel 4’s New Sensation photography exhibition, run by the influential Saatchi Gallery.
The photography student who recently graduated made the shortlist beating more than 800 entries, the highest number of entries since the competition started in 2007. Polish student Aleksandra Wojcik’s work impressed the prestigious panel of judges including Channel 4’s commissioning arts editor, arts commissioning editor of The Times newspaper and the Director of the Saatchi Gallery.
Three pieces from her collection of photographs of the River Thames (titled 'The River Song'), will be exhibited from 9-15 October 2012 in Bloomsbury, London. Aleksandra is no stranger to recognition and has previously had her work shortlisted for a number of other high profile competitions including the Sony Photography Awards and the Sunday Times Spectrum Awards, winning the Magnum Showcase competition run by a top photographic agency, as well as receiving a First Class Honours degree for the larger collection that ‘The River Song’ formed part of.
Middlesex University graduate Aleksandra Wojcik said: “The River Song ' is based on my experience of the English landscape and I look forward to sharing that with other at the exhibition. However, for me this is just the beginning. Being selected just motivates me to continue producing more work and documenting my experiences through my photographs.”
Channel 4’s New Sensations, which looks to identify the most talented artists graduating in the UK and Ireland, opens up many opportunities to up and coming artists including having their work sold, taken on by galleries, invited to be exhibited in the UK and internationally, and shortlisted for other prizes as a result of their work being seen in the exhibition.
Aleksandra plans to continue pursuing her passion for photography by studying for a Masters in the subject at Middlesex University.
