USA:FREE MUMIA ABU-JAMAL

Mumia Abu-Jamal is an award-winning journalist who chronicles the human condition. He has been a resident of Pennsylvania’s death row for twenty-nine years. Writing from his solitary confinement cell his essays have reached a worldwide audience. His books "Live From Death Row", "Death Blossoms", "All Things Censored", “Faith of Our Fathers”, “We Want Freedom”, and the recently released “Jailhouse Lawyers” have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and been translated into nine languages. His 1982-murder trial and subsequent conviction have been the subject of great debate.

El padre de la primera píldora anticonceptiva, el químico austríaco Carl Djerassi, sube jovial a sus 85 años las escaleras de un hotel de Vigo, ayudado de un bastón. A three-judge panel convicted him for ordering a military death squad to carry out two massacres that killed 25 people during his 1990-2000 rule, when he was battling guerrillas. Nearly 70,000 people died in two decades of conflict in the Andean country. Fujimori once enjoyed overwhelming popularity for taming economic chaos and defeating the Maoist insurgency known as the Shining Path, but a corruption scandal sank his government in 2000 and he fled to exile in Japan.
