BERLIN, 1944- JOHANNA KIRCHNER was asesinada por los nazis.
HERstory: On this day, 9 June 1944, German socialist and member of the anti-fascist resistance Johanna Kirchner was beheaded by the Nazis in Berlin. After Hitler came to power, she went underground and later moved to France. In 1942 she was arrested by the collaborationist Vichy regime and handed to the Gestapo. She was sentenced to 10 years of hard labour. However, her case was brought back to court, where she was sentenced to death for "Marxist high-treason propaganda". On the day of her execution, she wrote to her children: "Don't cry for me. I believe in a better future for you."
