I don’t favor a literature –and even less, a theatre—that is defeatist or weepy, aimed at inspiring pity or sympathy. We have to reclaim objectivity, as a way of reclaiming truth. And we have to reclaim the truth as one of the prerequisites for deserving victory.

Carlos Barrera - Born in Medellin, Colombia has been living in San Francisco for the last ten years.  From a young age he developed an interest for the dramatic arts, but it was not until college when he realized he had what it takes to be on stage. While in San Francisco he has performed with "New Conservatory Theater," "No Nude Men," and "Performers Under Stress." For several years he was part of an informal theater group called "La Tropa" where he took part in productions of texts by Garcia Lorca, Juan Rulfo, and other Latin American authors. 2010 marked his debiu as a playwright with the production of his play "32,700 Instants of Horror" at the San Francisco Fringe Festival.

Carlos Barón – Carlos Barón is a Chilean theatre artist (actor, director, writer and producer) who teaches in the Theatre Arts Department at San Francisco State University (SFSU), since 1989. There, he teaches Acting, La Raza Teatro, Storytelling and Multicultural Theatre. Since his times as a theatre student at the U. C. Berkeley campus in the late 60”s, he has worked in many professional theatres around the SF Bay Area, such as The Berkeley Repertory Theater, The Magic Theater, San José Repertory Theater and Thick Description. He was Artistic Director of Teatro Latino of San Francisco, co-founder and first Performing Arts Coordinator at La Peña Cultural Center, Berkeley and Theatre/Dance Coordinator at the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, SF. In 1900 he founded Rainbow Theatre, housed at SFSU, specialized in the promotion of multicultural theatre.


Angelina Llongueras – Angelina Llongueras is a theatre artist from Barcelona who lives in San Francisco. Lead actress in “Metamorfosis” by La Fura dels Baus, that toured 2 years in Europe and Asia; her “Phoolan is Everyone” was part of the Bogotá Women´s Theatre Festival; she created a one woman show from texts by Subcomandante Marcos for Cosmic Theatre in Amsterdam. She has directed plays by Dürrenmatt and Fassbinder, pantomime and story-telling shows for her students at UWC in NM and at the UDLAP and BUAP in Mexico. Directed Richard II for Subterranean Shakespeare in Berkeley and her own “Lo Mein and tequila” for Aguijón Theatre in Chicago. Her play “Albigenses 5” for Sala Montacargas in Madrid and the one woman show “Em dic Gertrudis” based on poetry texts by Mercè Rodoreda. She has published a book about contemporary theatre in native Mexican languages.

$10 donation for the artists and  voluntary contribution to the potluck requested. No one turned away for lack of funds.
